Tuning, suspension & window tinting in Bindlach

Window tinting, suspension or exhaust: we make tuning hearts beat faster, but with the paperwork. Everything we fit in Bindlach can either be registered or already has type approval, so that after the conversion you have no trouble at a roadside check, at the TÜV test or with your insurer. Looks and feel yes, hassle no.

We advise you on which combination suits your car, what can be registered together and what you will actually notice. Customers from Bayreuth and the surrounding area arrive with an idea and drive home with a car that rides and looks the way they wanted. And all of it legal.

About the paperwork: in Germany modifications need either an ABE, a general type approval that you simply carry in the car, or a Teilegutachten, a part certificate that has to be signed off by an examiner and entered in the vehicle documents. Without that paperwork the car’s road registration becomes invalid.

What we do

  • Suspension: sport springs, coilovers, sport dampers, lowering with a part certificate, wheel alignment after fitting on our own rig
  • Exhaust: sport exhausts, rear silencers, valved systems with EC approval or ABE, downpipes only with a certificate
  • Wheels and wheel/tyre combinations: advice on offset, clearance and load rating, fitting, registration
  • Window tinting: tinting film with type approval for side and rear windows behind the B-pillar, done in house
  • Registration: preparing the documents, presenting the car to TÜV SÜD, DEKRA or KÜS, individual approval under section 21 StVZO, modification approval under section 19 StVZO
  • Looks: spoilers, diffusers, side skirts and trim with certificates
  • Advice: what goes together, what can be registered, what it costs in total

We only fit parts we source ourselves. That applies especially to tuning, because every part needs the matching certificate and we have to stand behind it. Parts brought in from the internet are something we cannot fit.

How it works

1Advice

You tell us what you have in mind, we look at the car and check which certified parts exist for your model. You get a quote covering parts, fitting and registration. About 30 to 45 minutes of advice, with the quote within a few days.

2Fitting

Fitting suspension including wheel alignment takes a day in the workshop, an exhaust two to four hours, fitting wheels with tyres about two hours, window tinting half a day to a full day. Parts with an ABE are ready to drive as soon as they are fitted.

3Registration

Parts with a part certificate have to be signed off. We prepare the documents and present the car to TÜV SÜD, DEKRA or KÜS. After that you have the modification entered in your papers at the registration office. One to two weeks including the test appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Do modifications have to be registered?

It depends on the part. Parts with an ABE, a general type approval, may be driven without a sign-off, but the ABE has to be in the car. Parts with a part certificate have to be signed off by an examiner and entered in the vehicle documents. Without the paperwork the road registration becomes invalid, and that can cost you both your insurance cover and your TÜV certificate.

What is the difference between an ABE and a part certificate?

An ABE is an approval for the part itself, often with conditions written into the document. A part certificate describes the conditions under which the part is permitted on particular vehicles and needs a sign-off by an examiner. We tell you in advance which applies to your part.

Is window tinting allowed?

Yes, on the side windows behind the B-pillar and on the rear window, with a film that has type approval. The windscreen and the front side windows must not be tinted. The film needs a certificate of conformity, and you get that from us.

Does tuning void my insurance cover?

Not if everything is registered. Report the changes to your insurer, that is a requirement and usually costs nothing extra. If you drive with unregistered parts, the insurer can reduce its payout after an accident.

How long does it take to fit a suspension kit?

Fitting plus wheel alignment takes a day in the workshop. Allow for the registration as well: with the test appointment and the registration office the whole process takes one to two weeks.

What does tuning cost?

That depends on the part and on the car. You get a quote in advance covering parts, fitting, wheel alignment and registration. No hidden items.
