Air conditioning service for your car in Bindlach

An air conditioning system loses a little refrigerant every year, even with nothing wrong with it. At some point it only blows lukewarm, the compressor runs without lubrication and there is a musty smell from the vents. Here in Bindlach you get the service that prevents all that: extracting the refrigerant, testing the system for leaks, refilling it, topping up the oil and disinfecting the interior.

We work with an air conditioning unit for R134a and R1234yf, so for older as well as newer vehicles of every make. Customers from Bayreuth and the district usually come in spring, when the first warm days show that the system is getting weak. Booking before that is the smarter move, then you are set for the summer.

What we do

  • Air conditioning check: measuring cooling performance, checking refrigerant quantity and pressures, visual inspection of lines, condenser and compressor
  • Air conditioning service: extracting and recycling the refrigerant, pulling a vacuum, leak testing, refilling to the manufacturer’s specification, topping up compressor oil
  • Disinfection: cleaning the evaporator and the air ducts against smells, bacteria and fungi
  • Cabin filter: replacing the pollen or activated carbon filter, often the reason for bad air and weak airflow
  • Leak detection: dye or forming gas, if the system loses refrigerant faster than normal
  • Repairs: compressor, condenser, dryer, expansion valve, lines, pressure switch, blower

We do not simply top up a leaking system. Refrigerant does not belong in the environment, and you would have the same problem again within weeks. If something is leaking, we find the leak and give you the price for the repair in advance.

How it works

1Book an appointment

Tell us the model and the year, then we know which refrigerant your car needs. Describe the problem briefly: weak cooling, a smell, a noise. Takes a short call or one WhatsApp message.

2Service in the workshop

The standard service with extraction, vacuum, leak test and refill takes about 60 to 90 minutes and you are welcome to wait. With disinfection and a cabin filter allow about two hours. If the leak test shows a leak, we discuss it with you straight away.

3Collection and service record

You get the service record showing how much refrigerant came out and how much went in. That way you know next time how much the system has lost. Our recommendation: air conditioning service every two years, cabin filter every year.

Frequently asked questions

How often does the air conditioning need a service?

Most manufacturers recommend every two years. An air conditioning system loses around ten per cent of its refrigerant a year without anything being wrong. If you wait too long you risk damaging the compressor, because the oil carried in the refrigerant is what lubricates it.

The air conditioning is not cooling properly any more, what is wrong?

Usually there is refrigerant missing. It can also be a blocked cabin filter, a faulty pressure switch or a leak. During the check we measure pressures and cooling performance and tell you what the cause is before we do anything.

There is a musty smell from the vents, will a service help?

The smell comes from the evaporator, where moisture collects and bacteria and fungi form. Disinfection is what helps, ideally together with a new cabin filter. We do both as part of the air conditioning service.

How long does the air conditioning service take?

The service on its own about 60 to 90 minutes, with disinfection and filter about two hours. For repairs it depends on the part, and we tell you in advance.

What does the air conditioning service cost?

We give you a fixed price in advance, which depends on the amount of refrigerant and on the refrigerant itself, R134a or R1234yf. You can add disinfection and a cabin filter, and repairs are only added after we have spoken to you.

Does an air conditioning service make sense in winter too?

Yes. The air conditioning dries the air and helps against misted-up windows. It also tends to sit idle in winter, and then the seals dry out. Our tip: switch it on once a week, even when it is cold.
